Antelope
Antelope (Antilocapra americana)

Females have slightly less horn than males, but renewed annually (only the sheath). Life span of 7 - 10 years; gestation period 8 months with twinning common. Travel in small bands; small harems of females move frequently (within hours) from male to male for the 2 - 3 week breeding season. Fastest animal in North America (80 km/h); can leap horizontally 6 meters. Scent glands at crop, cheek, base of tail, behind hock, and in the interdigital space on all four feet. The white patch of hair on the rump can be erected and spread; this is used as danger signal.
